Official name: The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Tennessee Formerly: The Scottish Rite Temple Built: 1923-1925 Cost: $736,000 Type: Multi-Purpose Facility Location: 100 North Seventh Street, Nashville, United States
L ike most other Masonic Temples, this one conveys strength, stability, and longevity through architecture. Like others, the judicious use of columns and pediments implies a bank or government office. In reality, this is a meeting place for Masons, and includes a library, dining facility, offices, meeting halls, and auditoria; the most significant of which is the main auditorium which can seat more than 1,400 people and has been used by the Nashville Symphony because of its superior acoustics.
