I t is said that no trip to Canberra is complete without visiting the Capitol complex. It is a collection of architecture that while thoroughly modern, is still able to impart the importance and stature of much older capitols. The complex's most prominent feature is its flag pole. It is 81 meters tall and has become a symbol not only for the government enclave, but for the entire city. It exists as a traditional flagpole suspended above the ground by four converging supports that thrust upward where they meet.
