S ome of the most interesting buildings in Houston are being erected by the city's fast-growing Asian community. From Little Saigon near downtown to Tang City and Little Hong Kong, hundreds of thousands of people from the far side of the Pacific rim are bringing their culture to Houston and expressing it through architecture. This is a Taiwanese Buddhist temple off of Dairy-Ashford. It hides quietly on a side street in a residential neighborhood, but just a few blocks from an area so saturated with Asian influence, you could get lost if you don't speak the language. In a concession to modern construction and hurricane-resistance codes, the temple is built out of modern material, but stays true to its traditional roots.
