N o trip to The Netherlands would be complete without seeing at least one windmill. If you're visiting Amsterdam, this is probably the easiest one to find. It's one of a handful of windmills still standing in the city, and is actually a private home, so don't go knocking trying to get in. Rather than pump water, this mill was designed to grind corn. But it had a hard time doing that when a building was put up nearby that blocked the wind. So in 1814, the windmill was taken apart and piece-by-piece rebuilt on top of an old water pumping station to the east.
