Was sorry to see it go.I worked at the Montagu back in the early 60's.I was 17. This was my real first job. Boy did i learn a lot working there. The people that worked there, all were great to me and they all had stories to tell. The guest were great most lived at the hotel. Lots of hanky panky going on there, but that was ok.I will miss that hotel,to bad they couldn't save it.

I have a room key & key tag from the 1920's to Hotel Cotton. The old skeleton type key.I also stayed in the hotel in the late 50's when I was being inducted into the military.

I spent the night here prior to induction into the military. I'm sure it was the same for thousands from 1960 thru the end of the Viet Nam era. I can remember being one scared farmboy, I sat and ate my box lunch and watched the big city from the upper floors.

The first hotel in Houston to have restrooms in every room. A shame to change the name, even just a little. While still in high school, I was fortunate enough to attent a wild game dinner at the Montague.
