During a cleanup at home i found a room-key from this Hotel (The number 1209 imprinted on the Schlage-key, the room-number? Hanger reads "Savoy-Field Hotel, 1616 Main, Houston Tex. 77002"). As far as i know my father visit it many years ago, somewhere in the late 1970s or early 1980s. To waste some time i googled "Savoy-Field Hotel" and found this site with the info that the hotel is abandoned since 1988. Reminds me a little bit to the mystery-movie "The Lost Room" and if this not enought, the key-hanger have the same size and shape as the key in the movie, but with the difference that it is black not red and with a different imprint on it.P.S. Please pardon my poor english

I really like the newer side of the building, but the white side could stand to be knocked down. It is one of the three abandoned high rises I'm sick of looking at! The newer side seems to be good-structurally but I wonder if it has the same ceiling height and crawl space issues that Days Inn has? Those buildings seem to be stuck as hotels eventhough Days in was sold a month ago. I'm wondering if downtown already has enough hotel rooms and is why they stay vacant, but why not tear them down and build something useful. They did it to Montagu and it was never vacant!
