W hizzing by at 60 MPH, most people drive right by these pieces of public art and never even notice them. The 30-foot-tall stainless steel torches mark the edges of Buffalo Bayou as interstate 45 crosses the waterway. Eventually, as more bridges are renovated in downtown and across the city, all bridges crossing Buffalo Bayou will sport identical illuminated torches. Other bridges over other bayous will get their own distinct pieces of crossing art, each unique to the particular bayou below. The best way to see the Buffalo Bayou torches is from the park below, but then you miss another piece of art – the bridge handrails have been made into the shape of waves.

The Buffalo Bayou Torches are a waste of money. You're right, people drive past them and dont even notice. They should of spent $400,000.00 on these damn pot holes their everywhere. FIX HOUSTON POTHOLES!!
