Rating: Five stars. I just had Christmas dinner there. The preservation of the buildings is spectacular inside - esp the rooms that now house Gilt Bar and Restaurant.A BEAUTIFUL restoration that allows the historic building to be enjoyed by the public and not a few wealthy owners - or the Catholic officials church that rented the building up until the 1960's.

Rating: One star. Such a travesty. The Helmsley Palace needed special waivers to build their hotel adjacent to this important landmark building. They were supposed to cause no harm to it. Since they couldn't tear it down it seems they were determined to destroy it anyway. Shameful.
