A rchitecture? Not exactly. Art? Maybe. But certainly worth a stop to look and photograph. This giant artichoke is located in Castroville, which bills itself as the "Artichoke Capital of the World." They've been cultivating artichokes there since the 1920's. But not just for growing any old artichoke. This is Globe artichoke country. In fact, since Andrew Molera planted the first 'choke there all those years ago, the industry has grown so that three-quarters of all the world's artichokes come from this hamlet. They're so crazy about artichokes that houses even have crops of artichokes instead of front lawns. So naturally, what better way to pay homage to the plant that gives them life than to re-create its likeness in fiberglass and paint. Got a better idea?
