T his is the headquarters of the Transamerica Corporation, and is also their corporate logo. The pyramid is flanked by a set of structures that look like wings. They start at the 29th floor and are both for form and function. The eastern wing is an elevator shaft. The western wing has a stairwell. Although this is San Francisco's tallest building, the pyramid isn't as tall as it looks. It only has 48 floors, but with the additional 212-foot aluminum spire, it is an powerful, yet friendly, presence in the city's skyline. More importantly, its tapered lines allow more sunlight to penetrate to street level in a city where the sun has to do almost daily battle with the fog.

This is San Francisco's tallest building. The building is visible from 20-30 Miles away. This also anchors the south part of the skyline, while the Bank Of America Center anchors the north part of the skyline.

This is an amazing building, and an engineering marvel. I am doing a report on the Transamerica Building, and I find it hard to believe that very few websites are avalible to the Transamerica Building.

What a neat looking building!!! This Pyramid has become an icon of San Francisco along with Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. A real tribute to American ingenuity and prominence.
