R enowned for its Christmas decorations, the Maison Dupuy is an excellent example of how the city's French Quarter has shifted from an industrial to service economy. The building is historically significant because it was the location of the first Cotton Press in the United States. Today it is an upscale hotel in the Vieux Carre, featuring a large courtyard and an award-winning restaurant. In fact, it is in this hotel's restaurant that 1980's celebrity chef Paul Prudhomme first gained fame. In the late 1990's it underwent a $5,000,000.00 renovation.
