A very Western style building for this Eastern outpost of the Intercontinental Hotel chain, the Hotel Intercontinental Tokyo Bay's 17 stories rest on a seven-story dark colored podium and present a wide curve toward its namesake body of water and then extends inland. The northeast corner of the hotel is windowless to accommodate mechanical needs, which is not a great loss since that direction faces the river. The remaining views are of the city and Tokyo Bay.

The wide featureless part of the facade continues over the top of the building, continuing to obscure mechanical operations. But as it continues westward it tapers slightly to reveal an evacuation helipad, standard on most substantial Tokyo buildings.
