T his is the capitol building for the state of Wyoming. It is very attractive, and nicely done for a state with such a small population. The capitol complex extends no further than a block from this building, and while it is quiet most of the year, at least there is plenty of parking. The Corinthian architecture is intentionally designed after the capitol building in Washington, DC. The base is flagstone from Colorado, the upper part is native sandstone. In front of the capitol is a statue of a woman in honor of Wyoming in 1869 being the first territory in the western hemisphere to give women the right to vote and to hold office. That was more than two decades before Wyoming became part of the United States. "Equal Rights" is also the state motto.
