Rating: Five stars. I remember working on the 48th floor for the cosmetics company, Revlon Inc. Revlon leased the top four floors back in 1976, I believe. I was there until around 1980, always commuting by way of the "RR" train to 60th St. and 5th avenue back in those days. I was there, too, when the first and second floor (lobby and mezzanine) displayed the latest auto models. The mezzanine also housed the GM cafeteria, which we at Revlon had access to. F.A.O. Schwarz was across the street, then. Vidal Sassoon's hair salon was downstairs in what seemed like a courtyard in the front of this skyscraper. Also, I always looked forward to those annual St. Patricks Day parades on fifth avenue.

Rating: Five stars. My father worked here from the day it opened in '68 until he retired in '82. I was to visit sometime after it opened and on that morning, he heard on the news that a bomb went off on the floor they housed the GM computers. I think it was left behind a vending machine. As I recall, the damage wasn't great, but my father was stressed and I couldn't go with him to work that day. I was a very disappointed kid. I was there many times and ALWAYS loved the car showroom. They also had appliances on the second floor which was reached via escalator from the main lobby. GM was truly a powerhouse back then. in case you didn't know, A lot of the cars on display looked fancy, but weren't. They used to put base engines and transmissions in them since they were just sitting there for quite awhile. You could buy the cars on the showroom once they were done with their display. He got a '71 Olds with a straight 6 enigne and 3 speed column manual shifter. I loved riding those elevators!
