The modern interpretation of the triumphal arch embraced by the French people through L'Arc de Triomphe, but reborn as a post-modernist commercial cube. While other arches celebrate great victories in battle, this one celebrates France's emergence into the 20th century as an economic and cultural powerhouse. The arc meshes with other Paris landmarks by straddling the axis of the Camps Elysees and echoing L'Arc de Triomphe, which is on the same street.
