The Lalique boutique (say it three times fast!) is closing. The store right now is on the ground floor of 900 North Michigan. Its last day open will be June 7th.
I'm hearing conflicting information about this one. One thing I hear is that it's part of a larger strategy by corporate to close under-performing stores. The other thing I hear is that it's only temporary while Lalique searches for new space on Oak Street. Either way, I'm also hearing that the fancy pen store next door will expand into Lalique's space in the Shops at 900 North Michigan. So at least there's no vacant retail space happening. The 900 mall is a curious beast. Some days it's bustling like a madhouse. Some days it's quiet as a church. Either way, it needs more stores because there's still a bit of vacant space (but nowhere near what's happening down at the tragic Chicago Place). |

QUOTE(brijonmang @ Jan 27 2009, 01:10 PM) Gone. The expanded Mont Blanc store opened a couple of months ago. It looks nice, but there's still too much empty retail in that mall. You can read more retail and other happenings from the neighborhood at the Chicago Architecture Blog. |

Well, you may have lost the boutique, but, at least you have a mandatory breakdance zone now... -------------------- ![]() |
