It is just me, or are other people disappointed with London these days?
London is a very international city these days at the expense of its Britishness. People in London spend too much time aspiring to be Europe's New York instead of embracing their herirage.

In all seriousness I am not crazy about London. I used to live in England and visited the city several times. The downtown area is smaller than I thought. It didn't impress me like Paris, NY, Tokyo, Venice, and Roma.

It sedems like not just a London problem, but a regional problem. The whole area is forgetting its history and what defines it as British. Ireland is no better. Though it's great that it has embraced a diverse economy and culture in order to weather the current weak global economy, I keep hearing from people who visit that it's just not the same. It's getting harder and harder to find an Irishman in parts of Ireland.

I'm not advocating segregation in any sense, but I think that people underestimate the negative effects of homoginization.
