Muscarnok
Also known as: Exhibition Hall
Built: 1895-1906
Designed by: Albert Schickedanz and Fülöp Herzog
Type: Museum
Location: Southeast side of the Hosök Tere.

This is the city's main modern art museum. What sets it apart from other similar buildings is the tympanum at the top of the columns -- a copy of the relief at the top of the western pediment of the Temple of Zeus showing a fight between Centaurs and Lapiths. Across the Hôsök Tere is a similar building that houses the Szépmuvészeti Múzeum (Museum of Fine Arts), which houses a world-class collection of fine art, including what is considered the best collection of Spanish art outside of Spain.
