Országház
Also known as: Parliament Building
Built: 1885-1902
Designed by: Ímre Steindl
Type: Government Building
Location: Along the Danube River

"Big" doesn't begin to describe just how big this building is. It's more than nine-hundred feet long and 500 feet wide. It's so big that the concrete foundation is seven feet deep. From the outside, you can see 24 towers, and dozens of statues surrounding its enormous dome. Because so many other large buildings are right across the street from it, the best place to view the Országház from is actually across the river where you can see it in context, reflecting on the Danube. Inside there is another one of Budapest's great collections of art, but individual tourists are not allowed in; you have to be part of a group.
