This
isn't just any train station. This is the destination
of the famed rail experience known as the Orient Express.
This train brought opulence in travel to a level not
matched until the unveiling of the Queen Elizabeth
and later the Concorde. It quickly became the stuff
of myth and legend, immortalized in countless films,
books, and other bits of popular culture. The train
was the project of Belgian businessman Georges Nagelmackers.
It ran the 1,700-mile route from 1889 to 1977. The
Orient Express was revived in 1982 by an American
businessman and runs various routes that include London
and Venice, but not in the same grand style as before.
