You
won't find this one in many tour books, but it from
this building that millions of people around the world
got their first impressions of England. This is Bush
House, home base for the BBC World Service from 1940
to 2008. This photograph is taken from the Aldwych
Circle side of the building which is sandwiched between
Melbourne House and India House. The inscription above
the columns reads, "Friendship Between English-Speaking
Peoples." On the opposite side is a gift shop
which sells items related to their broadcasts. At
the reception desk you can pick up a transmission
schedule for your region, but there are no tours.
Domestic BBC programming comes from Broadcasting House
in another part of the city, and tours of that facility
are available.
