This
memorial to Britain's war dead was erected at the
end of the first World War. It stands in honor of
those who gave their lives for their king and country.
The original was used on the first anniversary of
the end of the war, and was made of just wood and
plaster. The one you see today was created later out
of stone, as all proper monuments are. It bears the
flags of the army, navy, merchant marine, and air
force.
