Orpheum Theatre
Built: 1929
Renovated: 1997
Type: Performance venue
Location: 203 West Adams Street

Phoenix's premier performance hall has not always been a revered member of the local arts community. The Orpheum has always been something of an afterthought for many promoters and artists. In fact, the building was all but abandoned due to a lack of interest when it was bought by the city in 1984. Preservation efforts restored its Spanish Baroque façade and just a year later the Orpheum was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
