Location: 200 South Orange Avenue

Orlando's skyline had a signature building, this would be it. Done up in contemporary southern-U.S. beige and green, the 654,678 square-foot SunTrust tower is conservative in design, but still slightly different enough to attract attention. Instead of relying on the hackneyed green roof, this building also sports a green racing stripe of glass leading the eye up its side to the towers panoramic multistory window at the top. The SunTrust Center is crowned by four pyramids, which complete the path for the eye from ground level to sky. At 35 stories, it was the tallest building in central Florida when it was completed. In 1996 it was sold for an estimated $105,000,000.00.

Visitor Comments:
From Lawrence - 23 November, 2002:
The top of the building (you called it the four pyramids) is a replica of the pice of machinery that actually etches in the circuitry of Intel's, amongst other's, computer chips. When the building was designed Suntrust wanted to make the statement of being at the leading edge of technology. I think it worked.
