Orlando's
skyline had a signature building, this would be it.
Done up in contemporary southern-U.S. beige and green,
the 654,678 square-foot SunTrust tower is conservative
in design, but still slightly different enough to
attract attention. Instead of relying on the hackneyed
green roof, this building also sports a green racing
stripe of glass leading the eye up its side to the
towers panoramic multistory window at the top. The
SunTrust Center is crowned by four pyramids, which
complete the path for the eye from ground level to
sky. At 35 stories, it was the tallest building in
central Florida when it was completed. In 1996 it
was sold for an estimated $105,000,000.00.
