This is actually the fourth courthouse to be built in Fort Wayne.

Additional information from Kathryn Wilkens:

  • Cornerstone laid 17 November, 1897.
  • Dedicated 23 September, 1902.
  • Made from Blue Bedford stone and Vermont Granite.
  • The interior includes:
    • Italian marble staircases, balustrades, and wall panels.
    • 15,000 square feet of marezzo scagliola
    • Rotunda open to all three floors, featuring murals by Charles Holloway
    • Encaustic floor tiles and mosaic tiles on stair landings.
    • Stained glass in the rotunda dome, over the grand staircase, in the courtroom skylights, and lunettes around the rotunda.
    • Five courtrooms, each with its own color scheme.
