Location: 121 West Trade Street

"The Interstate Tower, IJL's former home. It is my favorite building in Charlotte. Classic lines, wonderful touches of Art Deco and Gothic inspired architecture in a thoroughly modern form. I love it! Check out the light cauldrons near the top! The green dome is lit up at night wonderfully as well. Look how well it integrates into the building on the left ( I can never remember the name of it, but it's one of Charlotte's oldest skyscrapers..). The original design called for it to use the facade of the old Masonic temple, but that was later scrapped as unfeasible. Too bad, but we are still left with one of the most striking buildings Charlotte has to offer." -James Williamson
