Texas
is proud of its county courthouses. Many books have
been written on the subject. The Tarrant County Courthouse
is a great illustration of why the state can be so
proud. Developed in the Beaux Arts style, its base
was modeled after the state capitol in Austin, complete
with pink granite construction. It's beautiful enough
to be a television star, appearing in the CBS series
"Walker, Texas Ranger."
The
basement windows are covered by bars. This is because
those rooms were originally jail cells.

May, 2003 - The fire department is called out to
rescue a masked bandit stuck 25 feet up the side
of the building. It was a raccoon in search of pigeon
eggs which became stuck on a windowsill.
