If
it wasn't for the hurricane that blew through Galveston
in 1900, this would be the fourth-largest city in
America. At the time Houston and Galveston were fighting
it out to be the best on the Gulf coast. Then the
storm came through and wiped everything out, leaving
Houston to prosper and grow. Still, there is a lot
of great things to do and see in Galveston, many of
them tied to the Moody family, whoa re responsible
for this -- Moody Gardens. A hotel and entertainment
complex on the sheltered side of the island. Three
giant glass pyramids house an aquarium, a rain forest,
and Imax theaters. These were inspired by I.M. Pei's
glass pyramid in front of the Louvre Museum in Paris.
